Machine Tufted Carpets

Machine-tufted carpets are made when the tufts, clusters of yarn fibres, are drawn through a medium and inserted into a primary backing. A secondary backing is then adhered to the primary backing with a coat of latex, effectively laminating for a 2-dimensional construction.

At The Floorist we pride ourselves on having beautiful, high quality machine-tufted products. Each project is met with the superior precision and attention to detail you would expect from us as industry leaders.

Every machine tufted carpet by The Floorist comes with quality assurance to guarantee that the very best product has been delivered to you. To ensure that the finished machine tufted carpet will withstand the heavy wear demands of each installation, our products adhere to the following quality assurance guidelines:

• Colour fastness: Light/Water/Rubbing/Shampoo

• Abrasion resistance

• Appearance retention

• Compression recovery

• Tuft retention

• Electrostatic propensity

• Fire – smoke density

• Fire – critical radiant Flux

• Green label plus

Machine Tufted Product Types

Cut pile is a style of carpet that is sheared, exposing the ends of the carpet fiber. Cut piles come in different lengths and thicknesses. They tend to be softer underfoot and to touch than looppile carpets.

Loop pile carpets feature looped threads of yarn in tufts of similar height. They can stand up to a lot of wear, making them great for high traffic areas.

A Cut and Loop pile carpet is a style of carpet combining looped fibres with cut (straight) ones. This allows for added design elements in the carpet which can be geometric or abstract. Today, there is much more variety in the styling of cut and loops possible. Current styles include small square- or diamond-shaped patterns or pin dot styles. Some abstract styles can also be found, such as in “wave” patterns. The primary advantage to cut and loop style is the appearance. Cut and loop patterns provide nice texture and visual interest to a carpet.

Tip sheared carpet is created by tufting some loops higher than others. When the carpet is sheared, the higher loop tufts are partly cut, but the lowers ones are not. The resulting cut pile tufts look darker than the loops, creating a pattern. It provides a variety of surface textures or sculptured effects.

Infinity is a hard-wearing loop pile carpet that offers a great range of possibilities for commercial interiors. The two-colour yarn combination provides a striated look with a subtle texture that will give some interest on the floor without being the centre of attention.

Computer Yarn Placement Technology or CYP is the newest innovation in carpet design. It uses computer software to create designs that are more intricate then the mind can comprehend. The tufting pattern rivals woven carpers in both appearance & performance.

Enhanced Loop Graphics Carpet (ELG) produces beautiful carpet designs with pattern capabilities that include 100% loop pile, or a loop pile with either a tip shear or random shear effect. The loops can also be tufted at different pile heights to create a textured graphic pattern. This unique machinery accommodates custom weights, manufacturing widths, and a complete range of backings to meet the needs of an installation.
